Waterway Notices / Braunston Lock Flight

Due to the continuing impact of low water levels, we need to re-introduce temporary opening restrictions at Braunston Lock Flight to help protect water supplies and allow the canal and reservoirs to recover.

Despite the recent rainfall, we have unfortunately not seen the level of recovery we had hoped for, and water supplies remain under significant pressure.

From 4pm on Monday 9th November, Braunston Lock Flight will open for passage on: Mondays and Thursdays: 10am to 3pm Last boat entry will be at 2pm, allowing enough time for boats to complete their passage through the flight before it closes.

We appreciate that further restrictions will be disappointing for boaters. However, reducing opening times will help us conserve water and give supplies an opportunity to recover while continuing to provide limited opportunities for passage.

We will continue to monitor water levels closely and will update this notice if the situation changes.
