Waterway Notices / Between Woodside Bridge and Round Oak (2) Bridge, Merry Hill, Dudley

Third-party contractors working on the West Midlands Metro Extension project will need to temporarily close the canal and towpath to complete works associated with the new bridge over the canal.

The closure will be during night-time working hours only, from 21:30 to 05:30 each night, commencing at 21:30 on Monday 2 November 2026 and ending at 05:30 on Saturday 7 November 2026.

Please do not attempt to pass through the works area between 21:30 and 05:30. Outside of these hours, both the canal and towpath will remain open as normal.

A further night-time closure may be required during the week commencing 14 December 2026, for five nights only. Further information will be provided if this additional closure is required.

Moorings immediately either side of the new bridge will be affected by the works.

Please follow all on-site signage and any instructions provided by the contractors while the works are taking place.
