Waterway Notices / Lock 56

Since our previous update repair plans have now been agreed and our team will begin repairs to the paddle mechanism at Lock 56 on Wednesday 30 September and expect to be completed by Friday 2nd October.

A further update will be provided on or before Friday 2nd October.

Since our previous update, navigation remains closed at Lock 56.

The safety assessments required before repairs can begin have taken longer than anticipated to complete.

However, we remain hopeful that repair works will commence later this week.

Since our last update repairs to the paddle mechanism at Lock 56 have been delayed whilst the necessary safety assessments are carried out.

We anticipate repairs to start on Monday 21 September

 A further update will be provided on or before Tuesday 22 September.

Since our last update, the repair works at Lock 56 have unfortunately been delayed while the team awaited final approval of the repair plan.

The required approval has now been received, and the team can begin the repairs. We are hopeful that the works will be completed by Friday 18 September.

From our last update The team have now received the new parts to repair the mechanism on the paddle at Lock 56 .

The repairs are anticipated to start Monday 14 September for 2 days. 

A further update will be provided on or before Tuesday 15 September.

Navigation is currently closed at Lock 56, Slattocks, on the Rochdale Canal due to a fault with the mechanism that operates the paddle, preventing it from being opened.

Our local team has attended site to inspect the issue and is now planning a method of repair to restore operation of the lock as quickly as possible.
