Third-party contractors will be carrying out works to the recently constructed footbridge spanning lock 3, on the Ashton Canal. The works include replacing mooring bollards, finishing the connection to the new towpath ramp, and improving the surface of the offside lock landing.
The works will take place from 7am on Wednesday 2 September until 7pm on Friday 18 September.
During this period, navigation will be restricted around the new lock mooring at Lock 3. Boaters will not be able to use these moorings and should instead use the lock moorings at Lock 2. Boaters travelling upstream will need to moor at Lock 2, walk to Lock 3 to prepare the lock, then return to their boat and proceed through. Boaters travelling downstream from Lock 4 will still be able to moor above Lock 3 at the landing stage.
The towpath will remain open but will be partially restricted throughout the works.
Please take care when passing through the area and follow any instructions provided by our team and contractors on site.
