Waterway Notices / Whitley Lock Elsan Facility

We contacted the Contractors that deal with the blockages to have a last attempt of unblocking the pipes, to ensure that we have taken the correct steps to attempt to unblock it via powerjetting, before we approached the major works of digging underneath the toilet and the Elsan, to identify any drain issues and to clear any blockages effectively, down the pipeworks. This will be a major job to undertake, so we will be waiting on for quotes on the work. This will mean that the Elsan facility will be unavailable for a while.

We will update the notice when we receive any updates on the works that are to be carried out.

The Elsan facility is still non operational. We had contractors attend to it yesterday, but in order to investigate into the pipe work further they attempted to remove the toilet pan, but because it has been embedded on grano and tiled in, the base is needed to be broken in order to remove it, to explore further as to what is causing the blockage and where it is. We are currently waiting for a quote for the old pan to removed and replaced. This notice will be updated as soon as the blockage is removed and the facility is once again available to customers.

Contractors are due to attend site tomorrow and we are asking for a thorough cleaning and taking apart of the pipes to ensure that the blockage is not caught in the u bend of the pipework. We will update the notice after the contractors have attended site and carried out their work to unblock the Elsan.

Please could boaters be aware that the elsan at Whitley Lock is currently out of order, due to a blockage.

Our contractor has been appointed and will be on site as soon as possible.

This notice will be updated as soon as the blockage is removed and the facility is once again available to customers.
