Waterway Notices / Lapworth Lock 2 to 17, North Stratford Canal

Following recent rainfall and an improvement in water levels, we are pleased to advise that the restriction between Lapworth Lock 2 to 17 on the North Stratford Canal is expected to be lifted and navigation restored from 9:00am tomorrow.

We would like to thank customers for their patience and understanding during this period of closure. The Trust will continue to monitor water resources across the network and provide further updates should conditions change.

Please note that drought-related restrictions remain in place on other parts of the network. Before travelling, we encourage all customers to check the latest noticeson our website for up-to-date information on any restrictions or closures that may affect their journey.

Please note that the below navigation restriction applies on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. The flight will be closed to navigation on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays. We apologise for any confusion caused by the omission of this information from the previous update.

To help conserve water resources and support navigation through the current dry conditions, restrictions will be introduced on the North Stratford Canal between Lock 2 and Lock 17 from Friday 21 August. Passage through Locks 2 to 17 will be available between 10:00am and 3:00pm, with the last entry at 1:00pm. Boaters are asked to plan their journeys carefully and allow sufficient time to complete the restricted section within the available operating window. These measures are being introduced to help manage water resources while maintaining navigation where possible. We will continue to monitor conditions closely and keep the arrangements under regular review. We appreciate boaters' patience and cooperation during this period.
