The customer service facilities at Marple on the Macclesfield Canal remain closed due to blocked drains.

Our Estates Team are working closely with the third-party landowner to determine the most appropriate works required and arrange for the necessary repairs to be carried out as soon as possible.

Once the repair works have been agreed, we will provide further information, including details of the planned works and the expected timescales for reopening the facilities.

The customer service facilities at Marple on the Macclesfield Canal remain closed due to blocked drains.

Further investigations have confirmed that the land where the affected drains are located is owned by a third-party landowner. 

Our Estates Team is working with the landowner to agree the required repairs and establish a timeline for the works to be carried out by them. Once this has been confirmed, we will be able to provide further details of the repair plan and expected timescales.

Due to extensive repair work required to the collapsed drain and working with third party land owners this may take time to resolve. Once responsibility and access arrangements have been established, we will be able to share a repair plan and anticipated timescales for the works.

Our contractors have attended the site and, following further investigation, they have identified that repairs are needed to the drainage pipework. Therefore, unfortunately, they were unable to unblock the drains during their visit.

The contractors are now planning to attend the site again to carry out further investigations and determine the most appropriate method of repair.

Contractors have been delayed due to other priority work and are now hoping to attend the site on Monday to clear the blockage and carry out a deep clean of the facilities.
