Since our last update, the Heritage Association approval has been granted for the new handrail, and our team have received the replacement handrail.

Third-party contractors have now scheduled the works and will be attending site from Monday, 14 September to begin the installation. The works are expected to take approximately one week to complete.

Please continue to follow the signage in place and take extra care when passing through the area.

We will provide a further update on or before Thursday, 17 September.

Access to the towpath from Bridge 100 on the Lancaster Canal is currently restricted due to the installation of scaffolding.

Scaffolding remains in place to maintain safe conditions while we await approval from the Heritage Association for the design of a replacement handrail. Once approval has been received, we will be able to plan the installation of the new handrail.

Please follow the signage in place and take extra care when passing through the area.

We will provide a further update on or before Wednesday, 9 September.

Access to the offside towpath from Bridge 100 on the Lancaster Canal remains closed while scaffolding is in place to keep the area safe until a replacement handrail can be installed.

Access from the bridge to the nearside towpath remains open and available for use.
