We're carrying out essential improvements at Cossington Lock 48, including the replacement of the top and bottom lock gates. To complete this work safely, a stoppage will be in place from 7th September to 23rd October 2026.

Previous stoppages on the River Soar have been significantly affected by flooding, leading to unavoidable delays. These dates have been carefully selected to minimise the risk of further disruption from adverse weather and to help ensure the works can be completed efficiently.

Looking ahead, we're committed to providing longer advance notice for river stoppages, especially during the spring and summer months. As we continue to share our multi‑year programme, customers will receive greater forward visibility to help with planning and navigation.
