Waterway Notices / Bridge 188, Sydney Wharf Bridge to Bridge 190, Horse Shoe Walk Bridge.

Please be advised that final surfacing works will be taking place on the Bath towpath between Bridge 188 (Sydney Wharf Bridge) and Bridge 190 (Horse Shoe Walk Bridge), as well as at the 48-hour mooring at Top Lock, Bath (S1 Mooring).

To allow these works to be completed safely, the towpath will be closed from Monday 28th September to Friday 2nd October.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your patience while these improvements are carried out.

We would like to update our customers, with work to the towpath due to be finished this week, the tarmac for the towpath has been laid with further work required to install the spray and chip surface that will complete these improvements.

Once completed, the surface will match the stretch of towpath that runs to Bathampton from Sydney Gardens.   We are expecting a further towpath closure in eight weeks to allow contractors to install the spray and chip surface to complete the improvements. Before this, the towpath will reopen with the current tarmac surface before further works take place.

We will issue an update when this towpath closure will be in place and thank the public for their patience while these works have been undertaken.

Further to the notice below, please be advised that the waste compound near Lock 11 Horseshoe Lock will be closed for the duration of the towpath closure.   Nearest alternative sites: Eastbound- Bathampton 3km - 2.25 miles – approximately one hour and twenty minutes cruising time. Westbound – No facilities on the River Avon
