Kilton Lock to Bracebridge Lock - 1st April 2026 to 30th September 2026 From 1st April 2026, booking will no longer be needed. The Operative Team will be present at the lock on Monday and Thursday every week at 11am for passage through the locks. Please ensure crafts are at the locks for these times for staff to know who is wishing to have passage.
Passage will be conducted one way at a time, it may be a short time after 11am that assistance reaches you if those travelling the other direction are going first.
Kilton Lock to Bracebridge Lock – 1st October to 31st March
Assisted passage on Mondays and Thursdays will remain in place over the winter period, though this will be via a booking system. Please contact 03030 404040 or [email protected] to make a booking.
Bookings for Mondays must be made by 3pm on Friday. Thursday bookings will be taken with no less than 48-hours notice. Passage will take place at 11am where Bracebridge and Kilton Locks will be unlocked to allow craft to pen through.
To help preserve water resources, assisted passage will resume as follows:- From Monday 28th July, we have assisted passage on Mondays and Thursdays, 11am-1pm. Please note that outside of these times, both Locks 51 and 52 gates will be padlocked to maintain the water levels.

Due to being unable to draw any further water from the pounds above and a damaged lock gate, water levels are not recovering as they should.
Wednesdays assisted passage therefore, will not go ahead whilst we wait for the water levels to recover.
Due to low water levels, Locks 51 and 52 will be open only for assisted passage.
