We are pleased to announce that the dive survey has been completed ahead of schedule, and both the navigation and towpath are now open at Ellesmere Tunnel.

The towpath will now be closed during working hours for the duration of this stoppage, but will remain open in the evenings and at the weekend within the stoppage period. A clearly signposted diversion route will be in place for towpath users throughout the closure.

A navigational closure is required to allow divers into the water to undertake a detailed underwater survey of the tunnel structure.
