Whilst the water levels have improved, this advisory notice to boats with a deep draught remains applicable. We will update this notice once plough dredging to address the silt build up has been completed early next year.
Unfortunately, the continued lack of rainfall means that water levels have not risen sufficiently to enable the lock approach dredging to take place and this advisory notice to boats with a deep draught remains applicable. Dredging work is planned to take place this winter.

We have had reports of recent groundings on the River Trent on the approach to Cromwell Lock. We believe that this is due to silt deposit building up, combined with the current low water levels. This has resulted in boats with a deep draught becoming grounded. Dredging will be undertaken to improve this situation as soon as the water levels return to normal. We will update this Notice as soon as we have further information. Description
