Our teams continue to monitor the obstruction while developing a repair method for the removal. Until the removal can be prioritised within our asset maintenance programme, this work will need to be assigned to a specialist team due to the Scheduled Ancient Monument status and Grade II listing of the lock.

We continue to advise navigating through Lock 11, Beeston Iron Lock, Shropshire Union Canal with care due to a possible obstruction on the offside.

A further update will be provided when the repairs have been carried out.

Please be advised there is an underwater obstruction on the offside washwall of Lock 11, Beeston Iron Lock, Shropshire Union Canal.

Whilst navigation is still possible, we would advise to navigate with care.
