Description
This stretch of the canal is not currently navigable due to low water levels.
This notice will be reviewed and lifted once the levels have recovered.
Updates
The water levels are being closely monitored by the team.
The water levels have not improved enough to be able to open up the navigation. So it will remain closed between Lock 1 and Lock 24 as it is still unnavigable.
We will update the notice on Tuesday 22nd April.
4/16/2025The water levels have not improved over the weekend, so unfortunately the navigation is still closed between Lock 1 and Lock 24 due to it being unnavigable.
We will be closely monitoring the stretch and will update the notice on Wednesday 16th April.
4/14/2025The stretch of Rochdale Canal between Lock 1 and Lock 24 is currently closed as it is unnavigable due to low water levels.
We have been instructed to turn the pump off at Luddenden foot due to the low river levels where we extract the water from.
This will have an impact on water levels further down the navigation as water levels become lower.
The navigation will be monitored as should there be any changes, the notice will be updated.
We will review this notice on Friday 11th April.
