Description
Water levels are very low in the canal between locks 5e and 1e. This stretch is not currently navigable.
We will update the notice when the water level recovers.
Updates
There is a little improvement in the navigation as the pump is starting to take effect. However, it will remain closed as it is not ready to be opened up to navigation.
We will closely monitor the levels and update the notice when it has improved.
4/16/2025Over the weekend, there has been very little improvement in the water levels which are still too low to navigate the canal.
Though water pumps have been installed at Lock 12, it is a slow process to see any improvement in the water levels.
The navigation is still closed between Lock 1E to Lock 42E.
We will update the notice on Wednesday 16th April.
4/14/2025Water pumps have been installed at Lock 12.
However, it will be early next week until we start to see any benefits of the pumps on the water levels.
The navigation is still closed and we will reassess the water levels on Monday 14th April and update the notice with any changes.

This stretch of navigation between Lock 13 East and Lock 1 East is still unnavigable.

Unfortunately, the water levels are still very low at the bottom end of the Huddersfield Narrow Canal but it is slowly recovering.
The stretch between Lock 13 East and Lock 1 East is still currently not navigable.
