Description
Please be advised that contractor Land and Water will be working over the canal/river to remove the old redundant gas pipe bridge.
The central bridge pier will be left in situ.
The works will be carried out from a floating pontoon and bridge and pipe sections will be lifted out by a crane positioned on the old gas works site.
One half of the navigation will be open to boaters but please approach with caution and follow any instructions from the contractor and observe all signs.
There may be short delays to boating journeys to ensure the crane lifts are carried out safely.
To facilitate the works there will be a towpath closure in place for three weeks with a signed diversion from 10/2/25 to 2/3/25.

Further to the notice below, due to unforeseen circumstances the towpath will remain closed until the 12th April.

3/25/2025Further to the notice below, there have been further delays to the works at Pipe Bridge, Windsor Bridge Road, Bath. The works are now scheduled to be completed on the 8th April. The towpath closure has also been extended to 24th March.
