Description
We have been experiencing very low water levels through Malkins bank due the amount of boat passages and feed available to supply this area. We are therefore required to restrict passage overnight to help levels recover and free up the on-call team who will be assisting boats manage the levels through Lock 62 to Lock 64. The restriction will be put in place overnight between the hours of 17:00 and 10:00, this will be repeated for Sunday night also if the levels remain low during Sunday.
Due to these low levels, we have also closed Lock 64 offside lock, again to help maintain usage and the water levels in these pounds.

9/13/2024Due to the ongoing issue with low water levels, lock 64 offside and lock 63 towpath side remain closed restricting use to just one lock at both these locations, to help maintain usage and the water levels in these pounds.
A further update will be issued on Friday, 13th September.
9/9/2024Our team have checked levels this morning and they have recovered overnight. Also with the poor weather there seems to be little boat movement and therefore we are removing the overnight restriction.
Lock 64 Offside and lock 63 towpath side will remain closed restricting use to just one lock at both these locations, which should help control the levels and water usage.
This restriction will be updated again on Monday morning by 10.00 am.
