Description
Navigation is currently closed at Lock 82 on the Rochdale Canal, due to a blown cill.
An update will be issued on Monday 9 September.
Updates
We are pleased to advise navigation is back open at Lock 82 on the Rochdale Canal.
9/24/2024Our teams have successfully repositioned both cills at Lock 82 over the weekend. The local team have continued their hard work on site today to lay the structural concrete.
We anticipate to reopen the Lock tomorrow from 1pm, subject to the concrete being set.
We will provide a further update Tuesday 24 September.
9/23/2024Pleased be advised Lock 82 on the Rochdale Canal remains closed. Our local team have been successful in repositioning one cill. Over the weekend the team will continue to work on repositioning the other cill and laying the concrete.
We anticipate to reopen the Lock on Monday 23 September.
We want to thank our boating customers for your patience and understanding during this time.

9/20/2024Our team is continuing with the repairs to lock 82, on the Rochdale Canal the team have been in the lock repositioning the cill and fixing the flooring. It has also been identified that some pointing will be required which will be completed as part of the repairs.
The lock remains closed to navigation and we anticipate repairs to be completed by Monday 23rd September. We will provide a further update on progress on Friday 20th September
9/18/2024Work is progressing with repairs to the cill at lock 82, Rochdale Canal. Pumps have been installed today and our team will return tomorrow to continue the works. A further update will be provided tomorrow, Wednesday 18th September when we should be able to provide a more accurate timeline for the completion of the repairs.
9/17/2024Repairs have started today at lock 82, however, a crane is needed to assist with the works. This is due onsite tomorrow and a further update will be provided on Tuesday 17th September.
9/16/2024Today, our teams, along with contractors, were on site at Lock 82 to begin the necessary repairs to the damaged cill. Unfortunately, we have encountered an issue that requires additional pumping equipment to safely de-water the canal. We are currently working to source this equipment, but this will result in a delay to the start of the repair works until Monday.
We understand this may cause inconvenience and appreciate your patience as we work to resolve the issue. We will provide further update on or before Monday 16th September.
9/12/2024Following an investigation at Lock 82 on the Rochdale Canal, we have identified damage to the cill, which requires urgent repairs. To ensure safe working conditions, our team, in collaboration with contractors, will be on site tomorrow with the necessary equipment to de-water the canal and carry out the repair process.
We aim to provide a further update on the progress of the repairs tomorrow afternoon, 12th September.
We thank our boating customers for your understanding and patience while we get these repairs carried out.
9/11/2024Our local team have been to site and investigated the issue at lock 82 on the Rochdale Canal. Whilst a method of repair is being organised, navigation will remain closed.
