Description
Please be advised navigation and towpath are closed between Bridges 30 and 32 on the Lancaster Canal following a bridge strike at Bridge 31.
Local team and engineers are aware and have requested a road closure.
A further update will be provided Friday 6 September.

10/17/2024Please be advised the road closure remains in place at Bridge 31 on the Lancaster Canal as engineers assess the work needed.

9/24/2024We are pleased to advise that navigation and towpath are open again between Bridges 30 and 32 on the Lancaster Canal following a successful repair in making the sandstone block safe.
The road closure will however remain in place.
A further update will be provided on Tuesday 24 September.
Please be advised navigation and towpath remain closed between Bridges 30 and 32 on the Lancaster Canal following a bridge strike at Bridge 31.
Our local team and engineers attended the site, and a road closure is required to ensure that the structure of the bridge is protected from further damage. We will be carrying out further work to make the remaining unstable sandstone block safe.
