The bottom, towpath side gate has been vandalised and is currently out of action at Meadow Lane Lock.
Boaters can still operate the lock, but are to asked to proceed with care and allow extra time for the water levels to equalise.
We are attending site today to assess the extent of the damage and to plan in the required repair works.
We will update this notice by 4pm tomorrow or sooner, if we receive further information.
Updates
We are working to have the lock fully operational as soon as possible but do not yet have a confirmed timeframe for when the work will take place, although plans are in progress.
Boating customers can still operate the lock but are asked to proceed with care and allow extra time for the water levels to equalise.
We will provide an update by the 31st January, or sooner if we have more information.

9/20/2024Unfortunately, due to unexpected complications, the repairs to Meadow Lane Lock are taking longer then we had planned.
Boaters can still operate the lock, but are asked to proceed with care and allow extra time for the water levels to equalise.
We will continue to carry out the repairs and are doing everything we can to have the lock fully operational as soon as possible.
We apologise for any inconvenience this may be causing.

9/5/2024We have been on site over the bank holiday weekend, carrying out repairs to the towpath side gate.
Unfortunately, this has turned out to be a much bigger task then we had originally expected and further work is still required.
Boaters can still operate the lock, but are asked to proceed with care and allow extra time for the water levels to equalise.
We will continue to carry out the repairs and are doing everything we can to have the lock fully operational as soon as possible.
We will update this notice by the 6th September at 4pm or sooner if we have more information.
8/27/2024We have been back on site today, carrying out repairs to the towpath side gate. A specialist part is now required to complete the job, which means that that for the time being, the gate will remain out of action at Meadow Lane Lock.
Boaters can still operate the lock, but are asked to proceed with care and allow extra time for the water levels to equalise.
We will be back on site on Monday and aim to complete this job then
