Description
Please be advised the towpath will be closed from M6 Bridge to Bridge 26, Grimes Bridge in Brinklow. This is for towpath improvement works, including leak repairs.
The works will take place in two phases. Phase 1 will start mid-September lasting 6 to 8 weeks. Phase 2 will start mid-February lasting 8 to10 weeks.
There is a known leak through the embankment which requires sealing. The improvement works will resolve the leakage and increase the towpath level. We'll also be installing a new towpath surface, to provide a safe and suitable walking area for the public.
We'll need to excavate for leak tracing and the excavator will be on a narrow towpath. For safety reasons, the towpath will therefore need to be closed for the duration of the work, to protect the public from work site hazards. The nearest towpath access points are at Bridge 24 Nettlehill Bridge & Bridge 26 Grimes Bridge, each 800 metres from the site.
