Description
We have received reports of recent grounding between Limekiln Lock 43 and Abbey Park Road bridge 9 on the River Soar due to build up of silt.
We believe this is due to a sand bar across the navigation a result of recent flooding.
We have notified the dredging team so this can be investigated. All craft should approach with caution.
We will update this notice by 28th March or as soon as we have further information.
Updates
Dredging work will commence on the 7th October, downstream of Limekiln Lock. The works will also include dredging at the downstream approach to Freeman's Meadow Lock.
These works are planned to take approximately four weeks, with completion aimed to be by the 1st November.
Dredgers will be unloaded near to Bridge 5, Northgate Road Bridge.
The navigation and towpath will remain open, but boaters are asked to proceed with care and follow any advice given by our Trust representatives on site.
8/29/2024We are still awaiting a start date for the dredging works between Limekiln Lock 43 and Abbey Park Road bridge 9 on the River Soar.
We aim to have a start date for these works by the start of September. All craft should continue to approach the area with caution.

7/11/2024There continues to be a build up of silt and debris between Limekiln Lock 43 and Abbey Park Road bridge 9 on the River Soar.
Dredging is being planned in for this year and we aim to have a planned start date within the next couple of weeks. All craft should approach with caution.
