Description
Due to a road traffic accident at Dimmingsdale Bridge on Ebstree Road we have had to close the navigation of the canal. The bridge has been struck and the walling has fallen into the canal blocking navigation. We apologise for the inconvenience caused and will update you with further information as soon as possible.
Updates
Navigation is now open again, please proceed with care.
The towpath under the bridge will remain closed until Monday 26th February while contractors repair the parapet. Barriers and a diversion route plan will be in place.
1/12/2024Contractors have now removed the debris from the canal, however navigation needs to remain closed until the scaffolding goes up. The scaffolding will be going up today, so navigation will be open by tomorrow (Friday 12th January)
The towpath will need to remain closed for longer. As soon as we receive further details for this, we'll update the notice.
1/11/2024Contractors will begin work to retrieve the debris from the canal on Wednesday 10th January, so we're hoping to have navigation open again by Thursday.
As soon as we receive confirmation the debris has been cleared, we'll update this notice.
1/8/2024We're still waiting for contractors to confirm timeframes so they can remove the debris from the channel. As soon as we receive this information, this notice will be updated.
