Description

Please be advised dredging between Locks 14 (Common Lock) and Lock 20 (Woodend Lock) will begin 15th January and run through to mid-March.

Our contractors will set up an offloading point at Lock 15, working first downstream to Lock 14 and then from mid-February, upstream to Lock 20.

During dredging the canal will be busy with mud hoppers (full and empty) moving between the dredger and the offloading point – there will be no stoppage or restriction to navigation, but boats may be asked to wait for up to 30 minutes to pass the dredger or to give way to tugs & hoppers using the locks.

We are not dredging the whole length but responding to customer complaints around some of the locks and improving our mooring site between Lock 15 and Lock 14. Holders of moorings which are due to be dredged will be contacted direct by our mooring team and / or the contractor with further information on moving your boat temporarily.
