Description

Anderton Boat Lift Winter Operating Times 2023 – 2024

The Lift is open for bookings Friday 3 November 2023, 9:15 - 12:45. The Lift will then close for the planned Winter Works commencing on Monday 6 November.

From 18 December 2023 until March 2024, the Lift will operate Mondays and Fridays only. Passage will be available 9:30 - 12:45, both days.

During the festive period, passage will not be available on the following dates:

  • Monday, 25 December 2023
  • Friday, 29 December 2023
  • Monday, 1 January 2024

However, alternative passages will be available on Thursday 28 December 2023 and Wednesday 3 January 2024 only, with scheduled passage resuming from Friday 5 January 2024.

All passages must be booked in advance, we will not be able to take bookings onsite. You can book via your online account, alternatively, you can call and book with our team by calling 0303 0404040.

Next available slot on the day is free of charge, however this passage is subject to availability, otherwise, charges of passage do apply.

It is important that all boats travelling through the Lift have the correct license, a valid Boat Safety Certificate and insurance. Please make sure your details are up to date prior to booking as these will be checked during the booking sequence.

Please ensure that you arrive at the holding area 30 minutes before the scheduled passage.

This window gives our staff an opportunity to visually check the boat for any potential issues, and more importantly, allows time for the safety briefing to be delivered and to answer any questions that might arise.

You will be charged the full amount should you fail to turn up for your booked passage. Failing to turn up has an adverse impact on the efficiency of the Lift and our limited operational staff.

The Weaver is in essence, a big canal, and so rarely has strong flows or floods. Our information page 'Water Levels and Strong Stream Warnings' will update you on this, and you may want to check this if you are unsure before you travel.

To help you to get the most out of your experience cruising along the Weaver Navigation, further useful information including places to moor, Trust facilities, a Food & Drink Guide and more can be found here.
