Description
We will be taking the opportunity whilst the Huddersfield Narrow Canal is closed near this location, to add in essential lock gate refurbishments at locks 32, 31 and 30, we also plan to replace the damaged lock bridge on lock 31 at the same time.
Please note the whole flight will be closed for water control reasons.
We will deliver this work within the same time period of the existing closures in this area and therefore cause minimal disruption to navigation.
Failure to do this work now could result in the navigation being unexpectedly closed during our busiest time.
Updates
After reviewing the post-Christmas stoppage programme, to reduce customer impact, we have now merged two navigational closures in the same location.
To enable us to do this we have bought the closure at Warth Mill embankment forward to align with this closure on the Diggle Flight.
To clarify, the installation of the concrete foundation and wash wall rebuild above lock 32 West will now be done the same time as the refurbishment of Locks 32/31/30 with replacement of the damaged lock bridge at lock 31.
Please note the whole flight will be closed for water control reasons.
The start date for both pieces of work will be the 8 Jan 2024 and the navigation will be open on the 1 March 2024.
The towpath between Diggle portal and lock 32 West will need to be closed for the works, the rest of the towpath on the Diggle flight will remain open.
