Description

Please be advised that third-party contractors will be onsite at bridge 127, Sealand Road on the Dee Branch of the Shropshire Union Canal.

The third-party contractors are working for the Environment Agency and will be re-installing the flood defence gates below lock 3 of the Dee Branch.

The towpath will remain open and local diversions will be in place during installation of the flood gates. Please approach with caution and follow any advice given by the contractors on site.

The canal link to the river will remain closed over the winter whilst the flood gates are in place.

Please be advised third party contractors working for the Environment Agency will be removing the flood defence stop-planks below Lock 3 of the Dee Branch on the evening of Sunday 19 May.

The towpath will remain open but please approach with caution and follow any advice given by the contractors. Local diversions may be in place during the works.

Please be advised Lock 2 remains closed and should not be operated as this may lead to significant water loss in the pound.

Navigation to the River Dee is not permitted via these locks.

Please be advised removal of the flood defence stop planks has been postponed due to the forecast for high winds and high tides.

Lock 2 on the Dee Branch of the Shropshire Union Canal remains closed and should not be operated as this may lead to significant water loss in the pound.

Please be advised Lock 2 remains closed and should not be operated as this may lead to significant water loss in the pound. Navigation to the River Dee is not permitted via these locks. Third party contractors working for the Environment Agency will be removing the flood defence stop-planks below Lock 3 of the Dee Branch on the evening of Sunday 14 April April. The towpath will remain open but please approach with caution and follow any advice given by the contractors. Local diversions may be in place during the works.

Update 27/09/2023 -

Installation of the flood defence gates will now take place on Thursday 28th September, commencing at 6pm.

The towpath will remain open and local diversions will be in place during installation of the flood gates. Please approach with caution and follow any advice given by the contractors on site.
