Description
A stoppage is required to carry out to carry out lock landing repairs.
Updates
The works at Lock 9 are progressing well, with the scaffolding being removed by 15 March 2024. Unfortunately, we require an extension to fully repair a previously undiscovered leak and ensure an additional 20 tonnes of clay is to be installed and puddled to protect the new concrete capping before the canal is re-watered. The canal will therefore be closed until 28 March 2024. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
3/22/2024Whilst carrying out these planned works, it was discovered that a leak from the canal under the towpath has caused a void to open in the towpath. These additional works require us to extend the original stoppage date to make emergency repairs. The canal will now be closed until the 22 March 2024.
