Description
Customers wishing to navigate on to the Manchester Ship Canal from the Shropshire Union Canal, and vice versa, must follow these 3 steps:
- Consent from The Manchester Ship Canal Co. is required, and all necessary paperwork must be in place prior to passage. Please call The Manchester Ship Canal Co. on 0151 949 6000 during office hours to arrange consent. Please note, in addition to a Boat Safety Certificate, Peel Ports require you to obtain a seaworthy certificate and a marine survey check to travel onto the Manchester Ship Canal.
- Contact Cheshire West & Chester Council to book the swing bridge on 0151 356 6612 during office hours. Please give 48 hours' notice.
- Please then contact our North West Customer Support Team to book Whitby Lock 1 (Bottom Wide Lock) on 03030 404040 during office hours. Please give 48 hours' notice.
Please note, Hire Boats or Shared Ownership Boats are not allowed on the Manchester Ship Canal.
