Description
Fluctuating levels of flood water entering the canal is causing intermittent overtopping of the towpath at locations between Banbury and Oxford.
At some locations this is due to canal levels rising above the towpath.
At other locations this is due to the river Cherwell overtopping its banks and washing down over long sections of the canal towpath.
The paths are likely to have been eroded in places and will need inspecting when the flood water recedes.
Any overtopping of the canal towpath makes that section of effected towpath unsuitable to access
Updates
Flood waters have receded.
Overtopping of towpaths is no longer occurring
