Further to the previous notice, please be aware that the failure of the bridge pertains to the road bridge over Sykehouse Lock and NOT Sykehouse Road Bridge, which remains open.
As previously stated, the barrier has failed and a new part is to be fabricated and should be fitted on or before Friday, 8th May.
Please accept our apologies for any confusion caused by this administrative error.
Sykehouse Road Bridge (Bridge 7) is currently out of action, due to a fault which has developed with the barrier. There is evidence of some corrosion and part of the damaged area has now come away, meaning the barrier is inoperable. A new section is required to replace the damaged area and the specialist fabricator will be on site to measure up and make a the part. it is anticipated that the part will be manufactured and fitted by the end of next week, May 8th.
This notice will be updated as soon as the part has been replaced and the bridge is operational.
