Please be advised that contractors Walters Group and Ekspan will be working on behalf of Somerset Council to replace the broken pedestrian Swingbridge with new.
The navigation and towpaths will remain open but please approach with caution and follow any instructions from the contractor and observe signs in place.
There may be brief delays to allow contractors to safely move aside for boating customers and pedestrians.
These will be kept to a minimum to avoid disruption to journeys. Update 22/12/25: Due to unforeseen circumstances the work end date has been delayed.
The contractor has been unable to fit the parapets onto the new deck due to an issue with the alignment of the posts.
The situation will be rectified January 2026.
