Updates

15 September 2025 at 14:51

The navigation closure between Glascote Lock 13 and Fradley Swing Bridge remains in place while we continue efforts to restore water levels to a safe and navigable condition.

We will provide a further update by the end of the week.

2 September 2025 at 14:21

Please be advised that navigation between Glascote Lock 13 and Fradley Swing Bridge will be closed from 4pm today due to low water levels.

Our team are working hard to restore water levels by running water, but boats are currently grounding along this stretch, making navigation unsafe.

If sufficient rainfall allows for safe passage, we will lift the restrictions immediately. However, it is likely that sustained and prolonged rainfall over several weeks will be required to restore water levels rather than a single heavy downpour.

We understand this is disappointing news. Please be assured that reopening the canal to full navigation remains our top priority.

Thank you for your continued support in reducing water usage across the network, and for reporting any leaks or concerns to us via 0303 040 4040 or our Contact Us page.

We will review the situation again on or before Tuesday 16th September, and provide further updates as they become available.
