Please be advised that from Monday 11th August, the Caldon Canal will be closed to navigation, from Lock 1 to Froghall Basin.

Please be advised that navigation is currently closed between Cheddleton Top Lock and Bottom Lock until further notice due to low water levels in the pounds and insufficient water resources available to safely refill them.
Our team have assessed the situation and determined that any water directed into the affected pound is quickly lost to the river system, making it an unsustainable and inefficient use of limited resources.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation during this closure. Updates will be provided as conditions change.
