Updates
Please be advised that navigation is passable with caution under the bridge. Due to access limitations, the contractors are unable to bring in the necessary lifting equipment to remove the remaining tree debris until Wednesday.
7/15/2025Contractors have successfully cleared a passage to allow boats to pass through. However, some of the tree remains partially obstructing the navigation. Please proceed with caution in this area. The team is continuing their efforts to remove the tree, but due to its substantial size and weight, mechanical lifting will be required. This operation is scheduled to take place on Monday morning. Thank you for your patience and cooperation.
7/12/2025Update as of 08:45 Contractors are currently on site assessing the situation. However, the scope of the work is more extensive than initially anticipated, as multiple trees are entangled. Our primary focus is to reopen the navigation to allow safe passage for boats. Our contractors are working diligently to resolve the issue as quickly and safely as possible. The Trust has a zero tolerance policy regarding any form of verbal or physical abuse towards Trust colleagues, volunteers & contractors. Any such behaviour will result in the immediate withdrawal of the team from site, and the individuals involved will be reported accordingly.
7/12/2025Update from contractors: Team will be on site tomorrow morning at 07:00 to remove the tree.
7/11/2025A large willow tree has fallen across the canal and towpath, currently blocking navigation. Due to the size of the tree, our team is unable to clear it safely so contractors have been contacted to assist with their removal. We will provide an update once the obstruction has been cleared and navigation can safely resume.
