A sinkhole has opened up spanning the width of the towpath close to the Overspill Weir on the Rochdale Canal (section RD-011) A towpath closure is in place from Lock 11 close to the Stubbings Wharf pub and ends at the Beaumont Glen Buildings (RD-010. W3W is ///pronouns.upcoming.circle. The access point by the Beaumont Glen Buildings have a stone stile between the group of houses, so it is not compatible for pushchairs or any wheelchair access whilst this temporary towpath closure is in place The towpath closure is placed at these locations for access off at these points which will divert the towpath user from the closure. We cannot be held responsible for any issues off the towpath as we have not put an official CRT diversion in place, we have closed the towpath at the nearest access points for the towpath user to be able to access the other parts of the towpath. Orange fencing has been put into place at these closed off sections. We will update the notice on Friday 20th June with an update.
