Network Rail have advised that the bridge will operate every day between 4am-7am providing the temperature is below 15°C. We will review and update the notice by 4pm on Friday, 1st August.
7/1/2025Network Rail have advised the following:- "Due to the forecast hot temperatures over the forthcoming weekend, Keadby Rail Bridge will not be opened for river traffic until Wednesday 2nd July at the earliest." We will update this email no later than 4pm on Tuesday 1st July.
6/27/2025Network Rail – Bridge Operating Schedule Update The bridge will be open for canal traffic between 04:00am and 07:00am, provided the bridge temperature is 15°C or below. * Thursday 26/06/25 & Friday 27/06/25: The bridge will be operated within the 04:00am–07:00am window, subject to temperature conditions. * * Saturday 28/06/25 & Sunday 29/06/25: The bridge will not be operational due to forecasted high temperatures across the weekend. * * From Monday 30/06/25 onwards: The 04:00am–07:00am operating window will resume daily, again subject to the bridge temperature being 15°C or lower. Further works and discussions are ongoing with the aim of extending and improving the bridge's operating window.
6/26/2025Network Rail have advised the following: Keadby Rail Bridge will be available for opening to boaters between 04:00 and 07:00 on Thursday and Friday, 26th and 27th June. It will not be operational over the weekend, but will reopen again during the same early morning window on Monday, 30th June. Bridge operations during these times will not require plant staff to be physically present on site; however, they will remain on call should any issues arise. There is another meeting scheduled for 13:00 on Monday, after which we will provide a further update. From the recent technical conference, it appears highly likely that the bridge can operate as needed provided the temperature remains at or below 15°C.
6/25/2025Network Rail is currently in discussions regarding a forward plan and has advised us of the following: * Boaters will be able to pass through between 4:00 AM and 7:00 AM tomorrow morning (25th June). We will share a further update following Network Rail's upcoming conference. In the meantime, we remain hopeful that additional windows for boat movements will be available from early next week.
6/24/2025The navigation closure remains in effect. We have been informed by Network Rail that, unfortunately, the planned repair was unsuccessful. We are liaising with the Network Rail engineering team, who are currently in a meeting to discuss the next steps. As soon as we receive further information, we will update this notice accordingly.
6/23/2025Network Rail have advised that Keadby Canal Bridge remains out of use due to equipment failure. Additional to the welding repairs, a roller girder plate has been identified during the week which has become badly deformed; this requires replacement before the bridge can be operated for canal traffic. The replacement plate is a bespoke fabrication which will be ready for installation next weekend. The current plan is as follows: Sat Night / Sun Morning 07/06/25 - 08/06/25: The first phase of welding repairs will be undertaken on the bridge. Sat Night / Sun Morning 14/06/25 - 15/06/25: The roller girder plate will be fitted to the bridge with the associated specialist welding required. Sat Night / Sun Morning 21/06/25 - 22/06/25: The final phase of welding will be undertaken & the bridge tested for correct operation. The current estimate for re-opening the bridge to canal traffic is 0900 Sunday 22nd June.
6/7/2025We have been informed by Network Rail that the bridge is still out of order. Network Rail will be making an attempt to fix the bridge during the evening of Saturday, 7th June.
