Please note that the third-party contractors have requested an extension to this advisory notice, with the new end date now set for 31/07/26. This extension is required due to delays encountered during the scaffolding installation and an increase in the overall scope of works.

Third-party contractors will be lifting scaffolding components from a workboat in the canal over the towpath between Salford Bridge (Lichfield Road) and the M6 Main Carriageway Bridge as part of essential maintenance works on the M6 viaduct. The towpath will remain open during these works; however, users may be asked to wait briefly while lifting operations are underway. Signage and banksmen will be in place to manage traffic flow and ensure safety. We kindly ask all users to exercise extra caution when passing through this area.
